| For Crying Out Loud! - Thursday, September 06, 2007
When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, "Son of David, have mercy on us!" Matthew 9:27 NKJV
"In my 'day job' I am an optometrist. I practice in a clinic where, among other specialties, cataract surgery is performed. Many times I've had folks exclaim that we've practically performed a miracle in restoring their sight. These two blind men from Matthew 9 were in far worse straits than the typical cataract patient. They weren't trying to re-qualify for their driver's licenses-they were totally blind! Not a ray of light was illuminating their eyes! So what did they do? They CRIED OUT to Jesus! They didn't care what others thought of them-they knew the One Person who could help them was passing by and this was their 'chance'! They were verbal...emotional...and loud. They cried out! And they got results.Psalm 120:1 says, "In my distress I cried to the Lord, and He heard me." Sometimes it seems that God is waiting to see just how desperate we are in troubling situations-if we really grasp that He is the only one who can 'bring the fix'. I recall crying out to the Lord practically all night years ago when my son lay sick unto death in the hospital. I was verbal...emotional...and loud! In my distress I cried to the Lord, and He heard me.Have you ever cried out to the Lord? This isn't a 'formula' or something we 'manufacture' according to a recipe to get results. But when we come to grips with the fact that only God can intervene on our behalf, the cries ought to go up. And we can be sure He will hear."

| Sin and its ways grow old All of my heart turns to stone And I'm left with no strength to arise How You need to be lifted high
Sin and its ways lead to pain Left here with hurt and with shame So no longer will I leave your side Jesus, you be lifted high
You be lifted high You be lifted high You be lifted high in my life Oh God And I fall to my knees So it's you that they see Not I Jesus, you be lifted high
And even now that I'm inside your hands Help me not to grow prideful again Don't let me forsake sacrifice Jesus you be lifted high
And if I'm blessed with the riches of kings How could I ever think that it was me For you brought me from darkness to light Jesus, you be lifted high
You be lifted high You be lifted high You be lifted high in my life Oh God And I fall to my knees So it's you that they see Not I Jesus, you'll be lifted high
Oh Jesus, you be lifted high Oh you be lifted high Oh you be lifted high in my life Oh God And I fall to my knees So it's you that they see Not I Jesus, you be lifted high

| "I have found that there are three stages in every great work of God: first, it is impossible, then it is difficult, then it is done." -Hudson Taylor "All the troubles of life come upon us because we refuse to sit quietly for a while each day in our rooms." -Blaise Pascal "Heaven is not here, it's There. If we were given all we wanted here, our hearts would settle for this world rather than the next. God is forever luring us up and away from this one, wooing us to Himself and His still invisible Kingdom, where we will certainly find what we so keenly long for." -Elisabeth Elliot in Keep a Quiet Heart "It is the present Voice which makes the written Word all-powerful." –A.W. Tozer "If we cannot believe God when circumstances seem be against us, we do not believe Him at all."-Charles Spurgeon "The climax of God's happiness is the delight He takes in the echoes of His excellence in the praises of His people." -John Piper | | |
